Modacare Elite 250 mg is a combination medication that consists of 200 mg of Modafinil and 50 mg of Armodafinil. MECHANISM OF ACTION

Modacare Elite is a combination of Modafinil and Armodafinil. Modafinil is a weak dopamine reuptake inhibitor through its competitive binding to the membrane Dopamine transporter (DAT). Research also shows that modafinil can bind to the norepinephrine receptors and other CNS systems such as GABA, glutamate, histamine and orexin pathways. Since Modafinil blocks the DAT, the dopamine concentration in the synaptic cleft is increased and there is dopaminergic increase, the main reason for wakefulness. Armodafinil works in the same way as that of Modafinil.

DOSAGE 

Modacare Elite 250 mg is taken as a single dose in the morning or about an hour prior to the night shift. Dosages must be managed by a GP. 

If you miss the dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the normal dosing schedule. If you remember during late evening, skip the dose.

CYP450 Enzyme-Related Interactions

• CYP2C19 substrates: Modafinil/ armodafinil inhibits CYP2C19, which can increase levels of drugs such as certain antidepressants (e.g., citalopram), proton pump inhibitors (e.g., omeprazole), and anticonvulsants (e.g., phenytoin, diazepam).
• CYP2C9 substrates: May affect levels of drugs like warfarin, requiring closer monitoring.
